Reasons for dental implants:

  • dental implant info graphic Replace one or more missing teeth without affecting adjacent teeth.
  • Resolve joint pain or bite problems caused by teeth shifting into missing tooth space.
  • Restore a patient’s confident smile.
  • Restore chewing, speech, and digestion.
  • Restore or enhance facial tissues.
  • Support a bridge or denture, making them more secure and comfortable.

What does getting a dental implant involve?

The process of getting a dental implant requires a only a few visits with typically 3 months of stabilization required before a crown finishes the process and your missing tooth is replaced.

An easy, 20 second, 3D jaw scan is taken of the jaw and teeth to evaluate bone, gum tissue, need for a gum or bone graft and spacing available for an implant.  If you are a candidate for an implant, you can be scheduled for your implant placement procedure.

SURGICAL PHASE:  While the area is thoroughly numb and comfortable, the implant will be surgically placed into the bone and the gums will be allowed to heal over the implant.  Typically it takes 3 months for the bone to integrate with the titanium implant anchoring itself onto the implant surface.  You now have an artificial tooth root where your missing tooth was.

RESTORATIVE PHASE:  When properly healed, you next have the abutment or “post” placed into the implant, above the gumline, that will hold the custom-made crown or "artificial tooth" in place.  A temporary crown will cover the abutment for about two weeks, training your gums to have an esthetic contour for a more natural look.

PROSTHETIC PHASE:  An all ceramic, natural looking crown or "artificial tooth" is made either by CEREC 3D (our in-office crown making computer) or our ON-SITE, talented dental lab technician.  The temporary crown will be removed and the implant crown will be fitted and securely attached to the abutment providing excellent stability, function and comfort.

You will receive thorough care instructions before, during, and after your implant placement and restoration by our helpful team.  Good oral hygiene, eating habits, and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new implant supported crown or "new tooth".  Enjoy !
